back in June, Jenny & I joined nearly 200 members of other WIs for a weekend of camping at Lytham St Annes - well there was indoor accommodation too (which we took advantage of). 'Jam Jars & Tent Pegs' is one of a number of 'unofficial' WI event where weekends are organised for like minded women to take part in a weekend of fun, competitions, sport and craft. So off we went and enjoyed willow weaving, quilting, clay pigeon shooting, beach party - lots of fun in a friendly atmosphere.we have enjoyed some nice days out over the summer. A group of us went to the Confetti Fields in July followed by another visit to the Lavender Fields at Snowshill. We have a break in August from our usual meetings but we did arrange a River Cruise; so on August 2nd, 26 members, partners & friends took over the over the ‘Spirit of Freedom’ from Avon Leisure Cruises and enjoyed a gentle 2 hour cruise on the River Avon. Along the way, we had a splendid cream tea. A lovely relaxing way to spend an afternoon. |
