Pat, Sarah, Jo and I put our heads together to form a team representing the WI at the Brain of Eckington quiz night on Saturday 4 February. Calling ourselves 'No Jam, No Jerusalem', fortified with wine and nibbling on nuts, we delved into our bank of knowledge and earned a respectable 66/100 points. Whilst we may not have come in the top 3, neither did we come in the bottom 3, so we were rightly proud of our result; this notwithstanding the fact we scored a resounding 0/10 in the Sports category!
What a meeting Eckington WI had! Almost standing room only at the Village Hall. We had visitors from the village, from Pershore WI, Kemerton WI and Beckford WI as well as others travelling from Tewkesbury and other local villages. Why had they come? Well our speaker for our February meeting was Deborah Overton who was presenting ‘The Archaeology and History of Bredon Hill’ and this being our local landmark, it clearly attracted a lot of interest. Her talk was presented with slides and artefacts with interesting facts as well as speculation about the history of the hill. After refreshments, we bade farewell to our visitors and carried on with business; members were reminded about upcoming events and in particular, our next Coffee & Chat at #1, Pershore and our next Lunch Club date at Thai Legends in Pershore.
