One of our members has certainly been putting her craft skills to good use. Not only has she done painting, wreath making and bottle decoupage during lockdown, she has also made her Eckington WI cookies and her Kemerton WI glass bunny!
To show our support for both 'Show the Love' climate change action and our local church 'heart bomb', members have been busily crafting hearts to hang in the local churchyard. Here are a few examples:
the Evesham Street Pastors. Yes we were out on the streets but in a virtual capacity of course! Our first WI Meeting of 2021 and we welcomed Evesham Street Pastors to talk to members about their work. They are a dedicated group of people who, in normal times, walk around the town centre of Evesham on Friday & Saturday evenings, helping those in distress, in need of comfort or just some practical help. Their work is welcomed by the hospitality industry and the police as the Street Pastors offer a pastoral service that provides support where others cannot. It was an interesting talk and prompted a number of questions from our members.
As a village WI, we do get involved in village life. One of our 'jobs' is to look after the Book Exchange, aka the phone box. Due to current restrictions, it is difficult for WI Members to clear the Exchange of old, worn, damaged or damp books. So whilst we have asked users to look to see if there is any book looking the worse for wear that they can take home to dispose of, we have also suggested an alternative use for worn out, damaged or unwanted books. A book folded hedgehog, simple to do & looks pretty good! Details below:
