8 of us attended the Worcs Federation Annual Council Meeting at the Three Counties Showground. Whilst primarily a business meeting to report on the past year, there were a number of stalls with crafts and delicacies from the Country Market on sale. Also on display were entries into the various competitions organised by the WFWI; these included art displays, photography, sugar craft, floral displays and traditional crafts showcasing the immense talents of members throughout the county.
(LADIES - we must really try and enter something next year!!) This year the ACM welcomed 2 speakers to the meeting. The morning ended with a talk and presentation by Chelsea Pensioner, Brian Cummings. He gave a very entertaining talk about how he became a Chelsea Pensioner, what it means to be a Chelsea Pensioner as well as the history of the establishment. He was a popular speaker and has given many WIs ideas about visiting the Chelsea Hospital. The afternoon speaker was Ingrid Seward; she is the editor in chief of The Majesty magazine and the author of a number of books about the Royal Family. Her talk was accompanied by a number of photographs of the Royal Family as she discussed how her latest book, The Queens Speech had come about. Comments are closed.
