For our extra activity this month, we decided to lunch. Keeping close to home, we chose The Bell and several members joined in for a light lunch and an enjoyable chat.
Our monthly coffee mornings are alternated between our 2 local village pubs, The Bell and The Anchor. The coffee mornings are a chance for members to socialise a little more as well as being an opportunity for prospective new members to join us in an informal setting. This month was the turn of The Anchor and what a welcome we had - tables nicely laid out with a great assortment of cakes. Thanks Jack!
There was a last minute change to our planned meeting. Instead of the planned New Age Kurling, we were joined by Nick Carson. Following new defibrillators in the village, it was thought timely to have some advice on when and how to use them. Nick Carson is a local paramedic and explained to us the difference between a heart attack and cardiac arrest. He gave a demonstration on CPR as well as talking about how to use defibrillators. Whilst perhaps a sombre topic for a meeting, it was well recieved and gave people a little more confidence in what to do when faced with a cardiac arrest.
