Our October meeting was a celebration of our 80 years. Members who had been encouraged to dress in the fashion of 1938, were welcomed with a glass of sherry whilst then being able to browse through the archives of Record Books, scrapbooks and photos with music from the 1930s being played in the background. We then sat down to a wonderful meal prepared for us by Fantastically Fresh. With a 1930s theme in mind, we had a traditional Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding Roast followed by that favourite Sunday teatime treat of tinned fruit and evaporated milk (we did check and canning of fruit etc had begun by 1938!). Entertainment, a paper animal competition and ceremonial cutting of the cake finished off the evening before we all went home clutching our cakes (in the boxes we made last month) and an anniversary mug.
